About Sleeping OptiPlex
A sleeper looks like an ordinary office PC and performs like something else. Ex-business Dell OptiPlexes are cheap, quiet and everywhere, and a low-profile graphics card is usually all they need. This site helps you pick the card that actually fits yours, at a fair price.
How cards are matched to OptiPlexes
We track 92 low-profile / small form factor graphics cards, with their power draw, connectors and benchmark scores. Each of the 88 OptiPlex models is checked for:
- Power. SFF and desktop OptiPlex PSUs have no PCIe graphics cable, so a card must run on the 75 W the slot supplies. Cards that need a 6- or 8-pin cable fit only towers whose larger PSU has one.
- PSU headroom. 75 W cards in 180 W systems work with typical CPUs but leave little spare power.
- PCIe generation. x4 cards such as the RX 6400 lose performance in PCIe 3.0 slots.
- Resizable BAR. Intel Arc cards need it; only the 2022 and later OptiPlex lines offer it.
- Drivers and outputs. Cards on legacy drivers, and compute cards without display outputs, are flagged.
Check your own PSU's label: Dell shipped several PSU options for some models.
Where prices come from
We search eBay for low-profile cards throughout the day and record every matching listing's price, including shipping. Medians use one price per listing over 30 days and need 5 listings before they show. Trends started when the site launched, so they get more useful over time. Auction points are estimated from the bid seconds before an auction ended.
Live listings
Live listings are cards priced below their recent median. Each one was checked to be still for sale when it was found, but listings aren't rechecked after that, so a deal may have sold.
Affiliate links
eBay links are eBay Partner Network affiliate links. Purchases through them may earn this site a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions don't affect which cards are recommended or how they're ranked.
